Empowering Beauty Workers in Gender-Based Violence and Domestic Abuse Identification (GBV-Watch Salons)
Description
The GBV-Watch Salons project aims to empower beauty workers to become early detectors and contribute to the identification of, and fight against, domestic abuse and gender-based violence (GBV). The project seeks to empower them through lifelong and continuous education, enabling them to identify victims of domestic abuse and GBV, engage in supportive dialogue, and help victims connect with appropriate services.
To achieve this objective, beauty VET educators and beauty schools will be targeted and equipped with a Training Programme designed to enhance the competences of Beauty Workers (but also students) to contribute to the identification of GBV victims.
Objectives
The project’s specific objectives are:
- Empower beauty workers with enhanced competences to contribute to the identification of female victims of GBV
- Enhance institutional commitment to mainstream GBV training for beauty students and empower beauty VET educators to raise GBV awareness among students
- Establish collaborative networks of VET beauty centres and market representatives
- Advocate for the integration and empowerment of beauty workers as non-specialist actors within national GBV Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Increase awareness and visibility of GBV issues within the beauty industry and general public.
The work packages are:
- Project Management and Coordination
- Empowerment of Beauty Workers to Engage in Existing GBV Prevention and Identification Frameworks and Standard Operating Procedures
- Design and Delivery of Training Program
- Impact for Institutional Reform
- Enhancing GBV Awareness and Visibility Through Strategic Dissemination and Exploitation.
Project consortium
The consortium consists of 12 full partners from five different countries: Germany, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, and Italy. The partnership was formed to create strong links between VET beauty providers, GBV experts, research experts, and market representatives, aiming to enhance vocational training to address GBV and promote social inclusion.
