Objectives, tools

The continuously investigation of the quality of life dynamics in Romania is mainly based on the homonym series of surveys initiated by RIQL in 1990. The survey "Diagnosis of the Quality of Life" was conducted annually between 1990 and 2000, on representative national samples ranging between 1200 and 2000 persons (households). The survey was repeated in 2003 and we plan to have a new wave in 2006. For a number of years panel sub-samples were studied. The research instrument, developed in a complex approach, includes data on the living conditions, at social, family and individual level, data of a self evaluation of those states, conducted by the subjects, as well as the level of satisfaction, general and by component. A series of data are individual, others concern the household and its members. The gathered information includes 2 or even 3 measurements for the same variable, which allows to conduct multiple analyses.
