2005. Romanian village, European
village.
An assessment of the social impact of the EC
Delegation in Bucharest's communication campaign run by DC
Communication, with the aim to promote European values in Romanian
villages. 6 communities studies where investigated, with the aim to
identify the representations about what an European village is, if
the inhabitants consider their villages as Europeans, how much
social capital and solidarity the community display, which is the
impact of the communication campaign. An
intermediate report is available from the Infoeuropa webpage. A
final report will be prepared in October. A volume describing the
six communities and the main findings is planned to be ready by the
end of the year.

2005. Human capital and social
development
Based on the 86/2005 grant from the National
Commission for University Scientific Research, the project aim to
investigate the levels and the impact of human capital on Romanian
social development. Secondary analysis of the existing data is the
main tool to be employed.

2004. Romania 2004: Social
representations of corruption
A study of the corruption incidence among the
population and of the representations about corruption. the research
team extensively analyzed the results of a national survey carried
out by CURS SA at the request of the CONCEPT Foundation. the final

Romanian Farms and Farmers facing the EU regulations
A study of the awareness of small and medium size
agricultural producers and processors of the EU regulation in the
farming sector. A nation-wide representative sample of households
which are active or have the potential to be active on different
agricultural markets was surveyed. 20 case studies of small
companies added. the study was carried out at the request of the
World Bank. A volume summarizing the main findings is in print
[English language].

2003-2004. Precarious
Housing in the Urban Area
An extended diagnosis of housing conditions, focusing
on urban area. Quantitative information (data from the 2002 Census,
other comprehensive survey of the National Institute for Statistics
etc.), as well as six case studies carried out in Prahova and
Teleorman counties (Ploiesti, Campina, Urlati, Alexandria, Zimnicea,
Rosiori de Vede) where used as raw data. A survey of local public
administration was carried out in order to assess the size of
homelessness. A comprehensive report is available here (Romanian

review was dedicated to the topic.

2003. Social capital and
community development
Based on a grant from the National Commission for
University Scientific Research, the project aimed to investigate the
levels of social capital in Romania, in a comparative perspective.
The team mainly focused on the analyses of existing data. However,
qualitative case studies of two bloc neighborhoods in Bucharest, as
well as of a rural community from Sibiu county were also carried
out. Several papers were produced, some of them being available from
the publications page of the RIQL
website.

1990-present. Diagnosis of the
Quality of Life
A series of surveys of the quality of life, carried
out on national samples, yearly between 1990 and 1999, then in 2003.
A new wave is planned for 2006. Several books, articles and reports
